"How goodly are your tents, O Jacob, your dwelling places, O Israel!"
Ariel is a city in Samaria, half an hour's drive from Tel Aviv. It lies at an altitude of 570-730 meters above sea level.
The name of the city "Ariel" is one of the names of Jerusalem.
Ariel was founded in 1978. In the spring on the hill, where the city is now, tents appeared. By the end of the summer there lived about forty families.
At first, life here was not easy - water was delivered in cisterns, electricity was provided by the generator. Soon the tents were replaced by "caravans", in one of them a school was organized, where in the autumn of 1978 lessons began.
The status of the city Ariel received in 1998.
